Before we start, I just have to say this tutorial was made for people with basic knowledge of Photoshop and Imageready.

The Pattern

  1. Create a new document (Ctrl+N), width: 8px; height: 8px.
  2. Now make a design as show in this preview. (Using the rectangular marquee tool, and the fill option [edit > fill], or by any means neccessary) (Preview zoomed at 1600%):
    Marquee Pattern - Zoomed: 1600%
  3. Once you're done, go to edit > define pattern, and hit enter.
  4. Close, don't save.

Moving On

  1. Make a new document, any size you want.
  2. Make a Pattern Adjustment Layer, and choose the pattern we've just finished making.
  3. Make a new layer, press Ctrl+A to select all.
  4. Use the "Single row marquee tool" to remove one pixel of selection from the top and bottom of the selection.
  5. Use the "Single column marquee tool" to remove one pixel of selection from the left and right of the selection.
  6. Now go to: edit > fill, and fill it up with any color you want (I used white).
  7. Make a new layer, then go to edit > stroke: 1px, color black; hit ok, and Ctrl+D to deselect.
  8. Make a new layer, Ctrl+A to select all, then go to edit > stroke: 1px, color black; hit ok, and deselect.
  9. Add some text, and you should have something similar to this:

Animating It

  1. Click on the icon that allows us to edit what we've just made, in Imageready (Should be the last option in the tool box).
  2. After it all loads, make a new frame ("duplicate current frame").
  3. With that new frame highlighted, click on the pattern adjustment layer to highlight it, as well.
  4. Using the down arrow key, press it 7 times.
  5. Now highlight both frames, and click on "tween".
  6. Enter "7" as to how many frames to add, and hit enter.
  7. Now go to file > save optimized; and now you should have something similar to this:
